How to prepare for your sunless tanning appointment:
Anyone can walk in and get an airbrush tan but without the proper prep and post care your sunless tan will not be as true in color & will not last as long.
Following these steps assures a natural looking tan that will last 5-7days.

SUNLESS AFTER CARE

Avoid water and sweating for at least 8 hours.

The FULL darkness of the color chosen will take 24 hours to produce. Waiting as close to those 24 hours as possible is best. Waiting 8-12 hours is good, 12-16 hours is better and 16–24 hours is best.

If you feel this is too long a ONE Hour Rapid solution is your "go to". It allows you to shower in as little as 1-3 hours and still get the best results for your color. When your chosen time is up (1 hour light tan, 2 hours medium tan, 3 hours dark tan) you are going to do a warm water rinse ONLY!

After the 24 hour you may take a “normal” shower:

Use mild products, apply soap in hand not on washcloth or sponge and no direct bar soap to skin.

No exfoliation scrubs or sponges as they will take your tan away.

Use warm water not to hot as it will dry out your skin.

Pat or air dry no rubbing.

Make sure to use a Norvell moisturizer after each shower to help extend your tan. Norvell prolong lotion is recommended as it deposits color with each use and extends your tan while moisturizing.
Your Airbrush Tan should not be in any way restricting just follow these tips to keep your tan at its best.

NO PRODUCTS USED DURING YOUR RINSE. Just let your skin air dry or pat with a towel, (no rubbing your skin with the towel). Your color will fully appear 24 hours from your spray time.
Your sunless tan is deposited to the outer layer of your skin. Do not use a hot tub or chlorine pool within 24-48 hours as it will dry out your skin. Your tan is likely to fade faster due to dry skin. Remember to rinse your body off the chlorine / salt water and apply a Norvell moisturizer to hydrate your skin. Drink lots of water.

How long will my Norvell sunless tan last?
The life span of an sunless tan typically last 5-7 days. Following a good skin care regimen before and after sunless tanning will help a sunless tan last longer. Gentle exfoliating prior to a sunless tanning application (24-48h) and keeping skin hydrated ad moisturized afterwards are essential. To achieve your best sunless tan results, we suggest using our Norvell Sunless Exfoliator prior to your tanning session, and our Norvell Prolong lotion for post-moisturizing and sunless tan extending benefits.
How long should I wait after getting an sunless tan to shower?
Sunless tans can take up to 8-24 hours to fully develop. If you must shower sooner, we recommend waiting at least 8 hours to shower after your Norvell sunless tan. Showering sooner than 24h will cause your tan for fade faster. Life expectancy of fully developed color is 5-10 days. Choose our ONE Hour Rapid formula for a tan that gives you freedom of 'warm water rinse' in as little as One Hour. 1 hour for light tan, 2 hours for medium and 3 hours for dark results.
Will my sunless tan rub off on my clothes?
To minimize the chance of bronzers transferring to clothing, we recommend wearing loose-fitting clothes after your airbrush. It’s important to note that DHA may stain wool, spandex, and silk. Norvell’s products are all water-soluble therefore, in most cases the color will wash out of nearly all clothing types.
How should I prepare for my Norvell Sunless?
Shaving and waxing should be done 24 hours prior to your airbrush. Shower beforehand and gently exfoliate your skin. We suggest using our Norvell Renewing Sunless Exfoliator for best results. Remove any barriers that may prevent our sunless product from absorbing into your skin such as lotions, perfumes, make up, and deodorant. If you’re getting a manicure or pedicure this should also be done 24 hours prior to your airbrush. Once you’ve had your airbrush done, anything that will exfoliate your skin (i.e. waxing, shaving) will remove the color.
How long should I wait after my airbrush before swimming in an ocean, pool, or hot tub?
Chlorine and salt water will accelerate fading. We recommend waiting 48 hours after your airbrush application before going in a pool, hot tub or the ocean, in order to minimize fading.
Will my airbrush protect me from UV-rays?
No, we recommend that all clients still wear an SPF to avoid sun exposure.
Are there any specific instructions for my first shower after my sunless application?
We recommend that you avoid the use of soap during your first shower, and simply rinse and pat dry. Always pat dry after shower, rubbing with towel will cause your tan to flake off. You may see solution in the tub during your shower, but don’t panic – this is only instant bronzer. Your true color is already in your skin.

24-48 HOURS BEFORE YOUR SESSION
EXFOLIATE. EXFOLIATE. EXFOLIATE.
Pre-session exfoliation is the first step to achieving flawless spray tanning results. It is best to clear away dry, dead skin cells with a sulfate-free scrub from Norvell. For those needing a little buff, try Renewing Sunless Exfoliator or for those who want a deeper rub, try Intensive Detoxifying Salt Scrub. Go beyond buffing, by using the eXmitt. This will polish and prep the pH balance of the skin to keep orange undertones at bay - especially design for walk in clients.
TIPS TO PREP FOR THE PERFECT TAN
Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products or in-shower moisturizers. Be sure to complete any waxing, shaving or use of depilatory creams no later than 24 hours prior to your session.
DAY OF YOUR SESSION
PREPARE TO BRONZE
As you prepare for your Norvell sunless tan, be sure to wear loose fitting, dark clothing and no jewelry. Tight clothing can run or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows, chest and waist. Before you head to your appointment, there are some important “dont's” you won’t want to ignore. Deep penetration of the solution is key to a beautiful lasting color.
TIPS TO PREP FOR THE PERFECT TAN
Don’t create a sunless barrier by applying anything to the skin. Avoid applying lotions, creams or perfumes prior to your session. Even use deodorant sparingly. Don’t wear any makeup to your sunless tan appointment, if unavoidable, remove prior to your spray tan.
AFTER SESSION CARE
MOISTURIZE
Once dry, apply Post Sunless HydroFirm™ Moisturizing Spray to add moisture, seal sunless results and boost the DHA reaction. When showering after 24 hours, use pH Balancing Shower Cleanser.
TIPS TO OPTIMIZING THE PERFECT TAN
Refrain from showering as long as possible, ideally for 24 hours. As with all DHA products, sunless color begins showing development approximately 4 hours post application and continues to darken for up to 24 hours. If you must shower before the 24 hours has lapsed, do so using a warm water rinse only. The use of soap can inhibit full development of DHA. Never fear, cosmetic surface bronzers will wash away during the first shower. Note :: Chlorine can cause premature fading of sunless results.
